True story............ Client was living common law and had a 14 month old baby with his potential sponsor who I got an ARC (authorization to return to Canada) after being deported. He thought he could easily do his own spousal sponsorship but S*** happens.
Arguement happens with his CL sponsor and she calls the Cops and he gets detained. I got paid for his detention review, where he makes a refugee claim. I am able to get him released on bond. I recommend a criminal Lawyer and he gets an absolute discharge.
We get them legally married and submit a spousal sponsorship application. I do my best to delay the process so that Mississauga CPC can deal with his spousal application.
I attend his refugee claim which he lost because it was years before he even made an asylum claim. He retains me for the RAD which also ends up negative but time works in his favour.
Today this client that has been out of status for 15 years was informed by IRCC that he no longer has to report to CBSA because he has been approved for landing.
Another example is Lorne Waldman of Waldman and Associates http://www.waldmanlaw.ca/ submitted a Humanitarian and Compassionate application and lost. Then convinced the client to retain them for a Federal Court application and LOST again!
I submitted another H&C application and won. Client google review.......
