Visa Officer Marriage Questions

The following are general examples of spousal interview questions asked by Visa Post Officers. Visda Post Officers review all your answers on the forms to obtain additional questions. They can also ask questions by reviewing the photos you submit. Photos of a wedding reception can allow them to expand their questions.

Explain how your relationship developed?

Does your partner have any marks scars or tattoos on them and if so, where?

Where does your sponsor work and how do they get to work?

How long does it take them to get to work?

Who is their best friend at her work?

How did your sponsor gain status in Canada?

What is your partner’s telephone number?

What is your partners e-mail address?

How many siblings does your partner’s have?

Please name your sponsors siblings, and list their marital status?

Have you ever met any of them and if so how & when?

Who proposed, how and where?

What is the amount your sponsor pays for their rent/mortgage?

Who first suggested moving to Canada?

Please describe your sponsors residence in detail.

What is your partner’s mother’s & fathers name?

What does your sponsors parents do to earn a living?

How many people attended your wedding?

If you had a reception how many attended and what food was served?

Who was involved in the planning of the reception?

Where does your partners parents live?

How much does your sponsor earn from their job?

What are your plans for your future if your marriage is approved?

Why did their first marriage end in divorce?

Which family members attended the wedding/reception?

What do you dislike about your partner?

What do you think your partner dislikes about you?

Where do you and your partner intend to reside if your application is successful?

What do you know about this area?

Etc. etc.

 ·         When would you say your relationship became one of a more romantic nature?

 Always seek clarification when asked an ambiguous question. What one person might considerto be a romantic nature another may not see it that way. It is best to reply with a question, “Do you mean when we first had sexual intercourse together or when I had romantic feelings for my sponsor”?
