Canada’s Economic Recovery = Immigration!

With the borders being closed for mosty all of 2020 virtually no immigration revenue has been received from Immigration applications. The 2019 IRCC statistics have not been released but ……..

  • “In 2018, a full 6,024,233 visas and electronic travel authorizations were issued to visitors, international students and temporary workers, an increase of 5.2% from 2017”.

  • “In 2018, Canada admitted 186,352 permanent residents under economic class programs, representing 58% of all admissions”.

  • “Canada reunited 85,179 family members in 2018. Of these, 67,153 were admitted as spouses, partners and children; the other 18,026 were admitted under the parents and grandparents category. All of these totals were within 2018 ranges”.

  • “In 2018, a total of 28,076 refugees were resettled to Canada”.

  • “ In 2018, a total of 3,746 people were admitted to Canada for humanitarian and compassionate and public policy considerations”.

Calculate the revenue that Canada has lost in 2020 compared to 2018 numbers. Don’t forget to add in all the government processing fees for applications that were refused by IRCC. The immigration revenue from these 2018 numbers above should not be repeated in 2021, they must be increased.

Canada needs to bring in far more immigrants who have sufficient settlement funds to ensure they will be able to establish themselves in Canada. Foreign student language requirements should be relaxed a little to bring in thousands of more foreign students. Study and Stay programs for foreign students need to be expanded. Pathways to permanent residency for temporary workers need to be greatly expanded. Programs to bring foreign workers into smaller communities need to be a much simpler process. The immigration regulations should be amended to require new immigrants to reside for two years in communities who sought them out under programs like PNP, AIPP or RINP to bring immigrants to smaller communities. IRCC Officers should be told to put far more weight on establishment in Canada from any Humanitarian and Compassionate applicants. If H&C applicants are employing Canadian’s they should be automatiacally approved. Canada needs to charge $550.00 for any Express Entry Profile submitted regardless or not that they receive an ITA Invitation To Apply.
